Kitchen Trends 2025: A Simplified Guide for Home Builders

If you’re a home builder, you might feel a bit overwhelmed by the fleeting nature of trends. As they come and go, you want to find staples that are sure to attract buyers.

And while it’s a bit unrealistic to expect every house you build to keep up with every trend that comes along, here are a few ideas on how to simply incorporate the cozy, timeless aspects of this year’s trends:

  1. Trade Harsh Colors (White, Black, etc) For Greige (Grey-Beige)

Looking at Sherwin Williams’ Color Capsule of the Year, only one out of nine paint colors is considered a bright white, and even then, it has greige undertones. In fact, Sherwin Williams has a list of Expert Pick Kitchen Paint colors, all of which are earthy, natural hues. While many are sad to see the white kitchen go, it’s exciting to see where we go with greige from here. With our Sherwin Williams color match program through our vendors, we’re embracing the change at Timber Ridge Cabinet Solutions!

  2. Butler’s Pantries

Also called a messy kitchen, the idea of a butler’s pantry is to hide the “unsightly” aspects of a kitchen in a separate room, often connected to, or at least close by, the main kitchen. Some features of a butler’s pantry might be a dishwasher, microwave, sink for dirty dishes, and other smaller appliances like toasters and blenders. This might also be a place to add a splash of color in the kitchen area without it being in the main room.

  3. Floating Shelves

The idea here is to cut down on traditional wall cabinets and include more open space in our kitchens. Not only do they elevate any space, but they are also well priced. If you’re in the business of building homes, keep floating shelves in mind as they are growing in popularity!

  4. Hutch-Style Wall Cabinets

On the same strain as floating shelves, hutch-style wall cabinets are a focal point of this year’s trends as they open up kitchens and disrupt the traditional wall cabinet. And Interiors’ use of this trend in their designs, specifically in the Barrow Street Townhome project, is phenomenal. Simply lowering a traditional 42” wall cabinet to the countertop gives a seamless old world look. Contact us to explore options to incorporate hutch-style walls into your kitchen!

  5. Rich Wood Tones

Home builders, you’re going to want to pay attention! Not only are stains generally more affordable on cabinetry than paints, but home buyers are giving natural wood tones a ton of attention right now. A simple way to incorporate this is by pairing a stained kitchen island or dark wood base cabinets with painted beige wall cabinets. Stains bring those rich wood tones home owners are looking for with the perfect accent to give the kitchen an airy, timeless feel.

  6. Tall Utility Cabinets

We’re moving away from traditional pantries and toward cabinetry to hold our cereal and canned goods. Consider Amber Interior’s use of utility cabinets in the project Worth The Wait. In this particular kitchen, the symmetry is impeccable. And of course, think about all of that storage!

  7. Accent Glass Wall Cabinets

Echoing the functionality of floating shelves and hutches, the goal is to interrupt and open up a kitchen full of cabinets. Incorporating glass wall cabinets will lighten the weight of a solid wall of cabinets. It gives a similar effect as white cabinets, just with a twist! It has been highly sought out in recent years, so it has passed the test of time.
